We are excited to share some wonderful news about our PYLUSD FLL team, Ctrl+Alt+Elite. This team, representing not only our district but also Southern California, recently competed at the FIRST World Championship (FIRST LEGO League division) in Houston and was honored with the 1st Place Robot Design Award.
The FIRST LEGO League Challenge includes over 35,000 teams worldwide, and this year only 160 teams advanced to the World Championship—representing roughly 0.4% of all teams globally. The competition brought together top teams from over 60 countries, making the level of competition exceptionally high.
Earning first place in Robot Design at this level is a tremendous recognition of the students’ hard work, perseverance, and unwavering commitment. Over the past nine months, the team dedicated countless hours to designing, building, and programming their robot and attachments, while also developing the ability to clearly and confidently present their work. They continuously tested, iterated, and refined their ideas, demonstrating resilience, creativity, and strong collaboration. Their sustained effort and determination truly paid off on the global stage.
We are sincerely grateful to the REACH Foundation for bringing this STEM program to our district, and we deeply appreciate the strong support of our school community. The encouragement from school leadership, PTA, and families has played an essential role in making this journey possible for our students.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and STEM programs.
